West Coast Swing (WCS) is the embodiment of evolution from Lindy Hop in 1930s, Rock and Roll in the 1950s, and the Hustle in the 1970s. West Coast Swing takes the best of each of these dances and combines them into a smooth and elastic dance that can be danced to many genres of music. WCS can be danced to blues, lyrical, pop, and country music, but its movements and shapes will differ for each style of music.
Balboa is danced to fast swing music from the 1930s. It's characterised by its close embrace, quick footwork, and rotational movement. Balboa originated in the Balboa peninsula in California, however a variant was danced in Los Angeles that provided space for large spectacular movements. These two dances were originally called 'Pure Balboa' and 'Balboa' in the peninsula and Los angeles, respectively. Nowadays, we refer to the LA version as Bal-Swing, as it incorporates Lindy's space, and the Balboa peninsula's version as 'Pure Bal' that's danced much closer to each other.
Lindy Hop, or just 'Lindy', is an energetic and playful dance, danced to Swing music from the 1930s. With lots of space, Lindy allows you to experiment, improvise, and have fun with your partner. Lindy is well known for its aerials, its use of solo jazz movement incorporated into the dance, and the smiles on the dancers' faces.

All That Swing is a dance school where you can learn the art of swing dancing, including West Coast Swing (WCS), Lindy Hop, and Balboa. We offer group (social) classes, workshops, and private lessons for those wanting to develop their dancing skills. We love these dances and invite you to join us and start dancing today!
These dances consist of spins and turns, so flowy clothes and shoes that you can spin in are recommended. Please also bring a bottle of water to make sure you stay hydrated.
We would love to see you regardless of skill level! The basics classes are there for people to learn and refine their foundations, and are perfect for beginner dancers.
In group classes and most workshops we will be rotating partners, meaning you can just show up and have a great time!
If you and your partner would prefer to stay together for the class, that's absolutely fine, and more common thank you think! However, we do recommend that you rotate for two reasons:
1. You meet new people, and
2. You can learn different things dancing with other people.
